Meet the Team: Olivia Armstrong
My name is Olivia and I joined PEAK in 2019.
Currently, I am having a wonderful time teaching PE to primary school children at Horton Grange Primary School. Within this school , I am shadowing many different excellent teachers delivering PE lessons and have had the opportunity to start planning and delivering PE lessons to Year 6 students. I am really enjoying this because I am gaining lots of experience. Also, I have been able to go on a number of sport and school trips with year groups of all ages which has allowed me to engage with new colleagues within the school as well a wider range of children
Moreover, I have planned and are delivering many different after school clubs which is an amazing way to get children involved in sports which they many not have had the opportunity to try before or just getting them more active. In addition to this, I teach different sporting activities to Key Stage 2 children at Cleadon Church of England Academy which allows me to gain more experience whilst meeting different staff and children for different areas of the North East.
PEAK has quickly giving me the opportunity to progress onto my dream job as a primary school teacher with PE as my specialism and gain a nationally recognised NVQ3 qualification.
Throughout my school , I have played many sports such as hockey , netball and rounders which I have represented at school games level. At the age of 12 , I decided I wanted to play hockey at club level so I joined Morpeth Hockey Club . Morpeth Hockey Club gave me the skills to be able to go through the Junior Development Centre and the Junior Performance Centre in England hockey meaning I could compete at county level representing Northumberland.
I have been involved in sport since starting school . At the age of 6 I discovered my love for dance , especially in the styles of street and commercial. From then I have danced ever since competing regionally, nationally and European level. Dance has gave me many opportunities such as dancing on stage with Macklemore at Metro Radio Arena and being able to perform at Disney Land Paris twice. Furthermore, I have been able to teach dance to students ranging from the ages of 3 to adults and lucky enough to have three competing crews who have won regionally and nationally at Limitless Dance Studio. I am very grateful for everything dance has given me. And, hopefully once day I am able to have my own successful dance academy.
PEAK has been a great opportunity to have a first insight to hopefully what is my future career.
