At PEAK, I primarily work with qualified coaches within primary schools to deliver PE sessions. I also work solo at a school two days per week. Additionally, during school holiday’s, I facilitate sports/games camps.

What are your credentials/past experience, for working in your position?

A brief bit about myself that may be applicable: Since 2008 I have coached karate and kickboxing for self defence and sport and also various styles of fitness sessions for all ages, primarily children of primary school age. I have run my own club successfully by way of my students achieving their goals and being up to standard of performance for karate grade promotions and I have produced sporting winners too. I have a Level 1 certificate (level 1 is full instructor) via my

martial arts supporting body, I am a Level 3 qualified personal trainer, group fitness instructor, a qualified sports therapist and have many years experience conducting session of all kinds.

What’s your Archetype?

My Archetype is: 50% Creative - 30% Intellectual - 20% Visionary.

What do you like about working at PEAK/What are you looking forward to when working at PEAK?

I enjoy working at PEAK because I enjoy working with children and I love sport and fitness so, this is the perfect career for me!

What’s your background?

I am from London and there I began in the leisure industry as a lifeguard at 16 years old. At 17 I moved to the North east, then progressed through college and other courses over the years to become a level 2 gym instructor, then I learned sports therapy, then became a group fitness instructor, onto a personal trainer. Aside from that, I have been training in kyokushin karate since I was around 5 years old, and I still train today. I have also had many years of informal training in muay thai, K1 kickboxing and judo.

What are the values that drive you?

I aim to plan, facilitate and evaluate safe and effective multi-skills activity sessions to develop children’s overall health and fitness, as well as ‘tuning up’ children’s fine and gross motor skills to increase their confidence, to enable them to master the fundamentals of movement and sport-related skills all in a fun, imaginative and progressive way to make sport and exercise more enjoyable for young people. Furthermore, I am well aware that psychological and emotional well-being of children are just as imperative as physical fitness and I am aware of Safeguarding and Child Protection policies.

Your top 3 favourite Podcasts/Books?

My top three favourite books are:

1- The Kyokushin Way by Mas Oyama

2- Marvel graphic novels

3- Anything else regarding martial arts and fitness

What do you enjoy doing when you are not working?

When I am not working I enjoy karate/fitness training, reading and learning new things, but most of my spare time is dedicated to my family.
